by Anonymous, 7 January 2013, 12 out of 14 people found this review helpful I’ve worked my way from Acera through Alivio and most recently to the Deore M590 as I wore components out and progressively replaced the entire bike. When I installed Alivio shifters I was quite happy with my drivetrain, but the move to these shifters is akin to the difference between the SIS rubbish you get on a adepartment store bike and Alivios. They are well engineered, not terribly expensive, allow instalaltion in a range of positions and allow my to keep a good firm grip on the handbars while authoritatively changing gears. I actually do use the dual position upshift (on the rear), which surprises the hell out of of me because I initially thought this was a silly gimmick, but under hard acceleration away from traffic lights I find the thumb release more convenient. Without having fitted them I don’t think I oculd have been persuaded they’d be as great an improvement on the Alivio shifters as they have turne dout to be. I have about 12,000kms down with these shifters attached and they feel identical to the day they were fitted. They feel authoritative and the feedback click is reassuring and can be felt when it’s too noisy to hear. I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Superb quality by Schumi, 16 April 2016, 7 out of 7 people found this review helpful Just purchased my new deore shifters and they are super slick shifting paired with my new xt mechs super gear shifts and new feel light action just as good as the higher group sets. I’m not to sure about the multi release but I’m old school so I don’t think I will use that option but it’s there just in case I use it but for the price for a complete set of shifters compared to the prices of xt and xtr it’s a no brainer but mind you the higher group sets must be for bike tarts but not me So if you won’t a reliable crisp light action shifters you can’t go wrong with deore just remember what xt and xtr have now you will get on deore in a couple of years time they will just filter what they have now into the lower spec group sets Pros: superb performance and slick shifts Cons: none I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
