The best pads I’ve found yet by Neezurt, 25 October 2015, 8 out of 8 people found this review helpful I put these on my Bianchi Impulso winter bike some months ago, on which I’d upgraded the standard BB5 brakes to TRP Spyres. As I’d been doing a lot of riding on this bike in the good weather, I wanted to try and find the best pads ready for the onset of hard winter. I don’t think the cable-actuated TRP Spyres are as good as a full hydraulic set-up, but they’re certainly a lot worse if you use the wrong pads! And not too bad with the right ones. Of the four types of pad I’ve tried on the TRPs, these Swiss-Stop are definitely the best pads I’ve found yet. They appear to give good modulation and noticeably better stopping power (though I have to really pull hard on the 105 levers to get a skid). With the Swiss-Stop pads, the braking performance (on Spyre’s rotors) is less ‘grindy’ and the only time I’ve had brake squeal is if the rotors have had a bit of dirt build-up on them – a quick clean stops it. Only one of the other pads has been as quiet, but their stopping power was a long way short of these. Most of my pad tests have been done in the dry or a light rain, but in both conditions, the Swiss-Stops came top. While they’re only just better in the dry, they’re a long way the best in the wetter conditions. I suppose I’ve done about 1,000km on these and they’re wearing very well, with no crumbling and only needing the occasional clean-up. Easy to fit into/remove from the Spyres. In short, I’ll be going into this winter with both the Swiss-Stops… and confidence! Pros: good stopping power bearing up well after 1kkm quiet (no squeal) Cons: perhaps a little pricey I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Works no matter what by Sheep, 26 February 2015, 8 out of 8 people found this review helpful I bought these pads to replace the TRP Spyre pads that came in my 2014 Giant TCX SLR 2 bike. I use this for commuting, 46kims a day to and from work rain or shine. The facotry pads state they were not ideal for wet use which I found rather dumb, as that is why people buy disk brakes in the first place. Either way, they wore out in 4-5 months and I needed something that would stop regardless of the weather, and that is exactly what I got! I bought the sintered version as I wanted the utmost grip first and foremost, and I think this is also why they produce some noise on application. I’m on the brakes pretty hard, actually just warped my rear rotor, so I don’t care if they’re noisey, I need stopping power more then a quite ride. My only real problem is the money saved over buying locally was lost and then some in fast shipping that never came on time, and duty charges. If you’re buying in Canada, get them locally as you’ll end up spending more with shipping and duties, espeically if you’re in a rush. All in all great pads, and price – but maybe only if you live in the UK. Pros: great stopping power work in any weather everything is supplied for installation green? Cons: more expensive compared to other pads sometimes noisey. I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
