Conceived with the goal of bringing mountain bike pedal performance on par with that of road pedals, the Frog is the most versatile pedal you can buy. Saves weight because the Frog has a single retention mechanism in the cleat instead of two redundant mechanisms located in the pedal like most off-road systems. Minimalist design does away with confusing adjustments because engagement security doesn’t depend on spring tension. G3 Frog cleat is stronger, more durable, easier to mount and compatible with two-hole SPDå¨-style road shoes. Quickly and easily sheds mud, because debris is pushed out when the cleat engages with the pedal. Tough resin composite body is highly resistant to impact damage. Lightning-fast release puts an end to falls caused by pedals that won’t disengage. Phenomenal light weight: Stainless pedals per pair – 250g G3 Frog cleats per pair – 50g Knee-friendly, non-centring free float. Stainless and titanium spindles won’t rust. Precision needle and cartridge bearings. Built-in grease port for easy bearing lubrication. Superb by Anonymous, 20 May 2013, 12 out of 12 people found this review helpful I bought these pedals because I was sick of having to put coffee shop covers on my Speedplay Zero’s every time I stopped and had to walk. I switched to Speedplay last year after years of knee pain from Shimano SPD and SPD SL. Fitting the cleats to my Shimano RT82 touring shoes was really easy (as long as you read the instructions). I had my bike on the turbo trainer so it was steady and after fitting the cleat, clicked it into place by hand. Yes,it’s so easy to engage you can do it by hand with no effort. I had the fit the shim supplied to lift the floating plate up through the cleat. (It’s the curved piece of the plate that stops the cleat coming off the pedal). Engaging and disengaging is strange because there’s no spring like other pedals, but if you’ve set the cleat up right there is a “click”. I did a 36 mile ride this morning and they were excellant. If you’ve never ridden on Speedplay pedals the large amount of float is a bit strange but after a couple of rides it’s so natural. It says in the instructions that you shouldn’t initially change the position of of the grub screw at the back of the cleat but I noticed a small amount of play so I turned it in a tiny bit. All in all a top bit of kit. I’ve just ordered another set for my Carbon Trek. If you don’t want knee pain and would like to walk during a ride, get these pedals. expensive but worth it by nickr501, 24 April 2017, 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful I was recommended Speedplay due to knee damage and put Zeros on my main road bike and really impressed with the comfort and performance so tried a pair of Frogs on my hardtail and the flexibility they give you is amazing, also they are really easy to clip into unlike the Zeros which take time to free up. These simply accept the cleat with a tiny click and then when you want to unclip, you push your foot toe down and you slide out – unless you stick you foot down to unclip you remain clicked in though you don’t feel held rigidly – you can still fall off and not get your feet out quick enough if you forget to point down but usually you are out and free well before you land – I could never unclip the Shimanos quick enough but with Frogs my legs are considerably less bruised. I like them so much I’ve bought a second pair and put on my winter bike and use with touring mtb shoes which makes the second road bike great for going to shops etc and they are just as good on road as off – throughly recommended. Pros: comfortable flexible knee position easy to use Cons: expensive I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
