Well thought out design! by NathanSodaAir, 12 July 2014, 21 out of 23 people found this review helpful Unlike other cassettes, this XT cassette is mounted on the freehub in solid 5mm clusters (Photo included) so as to limit damage to the freehub caused my the individual cogs driving the wheel. It also has lots of material under the teeth to stop the cog twisting towards the front ring which I’ve found happens on some other cassettes as they get older on the high torque larger cogs. Overall you can never go wrong with Shimano XT components, I’m using this Shimano cassette on an otherwise SRAM setup (As my NS Bikes – Soda Air bike came with SRAM) Pros: cogs mount in clusters rather then individually strong cog designs range of sizes shifting performance I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Weak, just broke my 3rd one by shabadoo, 23 September 2015, 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful This would be a great cassette if it didn’t keep breaking. Just wrecked my 3rd cassette, each time the 4,5,6 rings get torn out of the aluminium carrier. Shimano are shaving too much of these things, they’re just not strong enough Pros: light Cons: too light it’s weak I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
