Good, solid pedals that can take the knocks by Birchtj, 16 June 2014, 5 out of 5 people found this review helpful I bought these for my specialized epic 29er. Use them at least twice a week, with a 3.5 hour ride on Saturday through a retired quarry trail in Pulau Ubin (Ketam park – Singapore). These have taken many hard whacks from stones along the way and haven’t shown any signs of breaking or distress. Scratches yes, but that’s to be expected. I just bought a 2nd pair of these for my son’s bike. I know they have rebuild kits for these, but they seem quite good so far, after 1+ years of hard riding. Note: You do need to buy the Crank Brothers cleats for these Pros: strong look great easier to slip in and out of than shimano Cons: not compatible with any other cleats I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
great to use, but weak spindle by Anonymous, 30 January 2012, 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful I’ve been using egg beaters for over 7 years and decided to try the Candy pedals last year. Twice I’d snapped spindles on the ‘beaters and I was hoping (wishful thinking no doubt!) that the Candy pedals might have a stronger spindle. It seems not. One pair has lasted over 8000km so far, but the other pair I swapped in when waiting for some new bearings snapped the right spindle after only 2 months and less than 2000km. I weigh around 78-80kg and dont jump off things- the wheels are on the ground except for normal trail obstacles that arent too big, mostly dirt road and fire trail riding. When you are riding hard out of the saddle, a snapped pedal is the last thing you want, the result is always painful, and usually results in some time off the bike while the injuries heal. That said, they are very nice to use, and dont clog up with mud and clay, but I really, really wish they would make the spindles just a bit stronger!
