Campag wont replace if its faulty by Brixtonrider, 16 July 2015, 5 out of 8 people found this review helpful I have had a terrible experience with Campag This hub started grating after six months the bearing had become corroded. Campag wouldnt replace they wanted to charge me for a repair which was more expensive than buying the hub. The hub has started to go again within 10 months of the repair. This is what their UK technical team suggest bearings will last for (5k for me equates to 6 months of riding).. A warranty doesn’t mean that you won’t have to maintain a product – if the bearings have been run through the winter and not opened for regular maintenance (if you check Campagnolo’s advice, they recommend 5000km intervals or more frequently if conditions indicate) then I’d be surprised if there wasn’t degradation. That’s “wear and tear” and wear and tear increases exponentially with lack of maintenance and in any case the warranty is contingent on correct maintenance and specifically excludes “normal” wear and tear in any case. Great product at a great price, with a caveat by basjan, 12 June 2017, 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Like many of the previous reviewers noted: The typical high-end Campagnolo performance. And at a much lower cost than say, Chris King hubs. In fact, I have two Chris King hub sets (R45 and classic) and while there is a definite difference in quality and build when it comes to King, you also pay a hefty premium. The Campy Record hubs are just fine. They have borrowed some of the King design in that the axles use 5mm hex keys to adjust, along with a type of lock nut to adjust bearing pre-load (I assume that the Chris King patent is now public domain). They also use “traditional” bearings. So all-in-all a great product. Just note that my hub’s pre-load seemed off (too loose), so I had to dial it in a bit before first use in order to ensure good break-in and trouble-free use. And hats off to the folks at Chain Reaction Cycles – I ordered from the US east coast (New York) on June 4, after hours in Europe… I had my items in-hand on June 9 – that is incredible service in my book!
