Fragile junk – definitely not for stronger riders. by delprest, 5 May 2015, 23 out of 25 people found this review helpful So, I’ve owned this hub for not even two years, and in that time the freehub has disintegrated FOUR times! 🙁 The first time it happened, Chainreaction were excellent at replacing it under warranty. Installing the replacement means a total disassembly of the hub (which means buying an over-sized allen key!), so it’s definitely not something you ever want to repeat. The second and third time I was out of the country, and paying a mechanic to replace it was âÂ75 in Montenegro, and âÂ70 in Greece! 🙁 🙁 I’ve only been using my most recent failure for less than a thousand km, I put the bike in the stand to oil the chain and noticed a funny noise (again), took the cassette off and a broken bit of freehub dropped out (again). You can see in the picture that a lump is missing, and the freehub is cracked along its entire length. I really couldn’t be bothered asking for a warranty replacement, what’s the point if you’ll only receive the same junk? What you save in the initial price, you’ll more than pay for in service fees and frustration. Definitely one to avoid. Pros: nice bearings Cons: designed for little girls I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Cheap & fragile by JimJunkie, 3 August 2015, 8 out of 9 people found this review helpful Bought one of these to lace into my Stans Flow-EX rims. All went well until the freehub started to seize at around 400km of riding. Admittedly I ride fairly hard and aren’t the lightest of riders (90kg), but I expected more. If you’re into light XC riding, this is probably a good cheap option. If you’re into harder trail/AM riding, then this probably isn’t for you. Pros: cheap Cons: durability cup & cone bearings I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
