Great brakes, but needed a bleed by Hangdog1, 20 August 2015, 9 out of 9 people found this review helpful The Shimano Saint brakes are of excellent build quality, They are apparently good to go out of the box but from my own experience I am not sure if they are properly bled, I needed to bleed the rear as a matter of course as I needed to remove the hose to shorten it and to facilitate feeding it through the frame, but the front I installed straight from the box, the brakes felt spongy so I used the Shimano bleed kit and found a lot of air in the front system. I have since bled both front and rear twice and feel they are now operating correctly, There are some great videos online on how to bleed Shimano brakes correctly. As an extra note the pads that come with the callipers are metallic pads. The levers have a great ergonomic feel and are great for one finger braking, The free stroke setting doesn’t appear to do much, maybe its very subtle in its effect? Pros: great build quality Cons: may need a bleed before use I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
