Great for a Newbie by MTBAli, 9 March 2014, 12 out of 12 people found this review helpful I decided to try riding with clipless pedals about two months ago. As a beginer i decided to go with the multi release, for obvious reasons. First time out on a 30 KM trip i fell three times, had thexse not been multi release that number would have topped 10. Since then i havent fallen again and i attribute that mostly to the multi release more than me getting better. when i panick and jerk my foot off the cleats give and that the added value with these perticular cleats. Ive done about 300KM on these so far and tbh i dont relize how i ever rode without cleats. Im much more efficent in my pedalling, no sliping off the pedal, and i benifit from able to pull the pedal up as well as push down whereas before the cleats its only a push. Ive paired these with Shimano m780 pedals and some shimano M064 MTB shoes. Pros: releases in a panic I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Great if you’re not used to riding clipped in by pseymour, 11 June 2015, 9 out of 9 people found this review helpful I previously used SH51 which are the standard release cleats. But I couldn’t get on with them as when doing technical trail riding i couldn’t release my feet in time when I stalled resulting in coming off. However, these new SH56 cleats are much much easier to release your feet as you can lift your feet to unclip as well as flick outwards. My main reservation was that my feet might unclip themselves while riding, however this is not the case and hasn’t happened yet. You do get much more float as a result of using these cleats which I dont mind. Pros: much easier to release than sh51 Cons: more float I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Shimano SH56 Cleats – other options

With 888 Shimano products, 44 Shimano Pedals and 315 Pedals available from Chain Reaction Cycles you’re really not going to struggle for choice. Quite the opposite in fact, there’s just too much choice to make a simple decision. If you do want to read a few more reviews first though you can check more of our Pedals reviews out. Our top bit of advice is to set yourself a list of “must haves” whether that’s colour, features, price or size, make sure you stick with your list as that will save you a lot of time when hunting around online.

Video reviews are also great for finding out whether a bike product is going to suit your needs. We’ve picked out a couple of YouTube videos for your to check out. You can also find more pictures too using Google.
