Issues with rear guard mounting by kitkats, 9 January 2016, 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful The rear guard tightens into place with a steel nut and bolt encapsulated in plastic grips. The steel nut had a nylon locknut which requires more force than you can get on the grips by hand. Since the nut is entirely rebated into the plastic grip, there is no way to get additional force on either end of the bolt and it cannot be tightened by hand. I had to replace the nut with one of my own that didn’t have a nylon insert and then everything worked fine. I have no idea how someone without a spare nut would get this to tighten, let alone get it apart again. Pros: cheap Cons: doesn’t tighten without a spare nut I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Almost perfect by Petermac, 5 January 2017, 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful It is a very good design and does what it should do i.e. keep the water off your back! It looks well and seems sturdy enough. There was one problem with it however. The ratchet that is supposed to tighten the up down adjustment didn’t work because the tightening screw was a fraction too long. I don’t know whether I got a dud one or whether they are all like that. Anyway the solution was to add another shim and I just happened to have one that fitted the bill . Once the new rubber shim was fitted, it was possible to tighten the adjusting screw. It is a fault but easily remedied providing you have a rubber shim/washer handy! Pros: elegant looking Cons: needs extra washer/shim I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
