good quality as ever from Hope, but…. by L33lad70, 16 July 2016, 9 out of 10 people found this review helpful I bought this for my 2012 Stumpjumper evo, to replace the awful Sram BB, as I was on my 3rd one in 4 yrs. This review is not about the quality or function of Hopes BB, I am sure it is fine. It is more about the fact that my spindle on my crank is now too short!! After talking to Chain Reaction, & Hope directly, who both recommended this for my bike. We are only talking a few millimeters here, but I cant torque my spindle up, without pushing the preload nut, at the non drive side, back off its thread, essentially making the nut, a big shim, & the crank difficult to turn. So now I am faced with finding a longer spindle, to suit Sram’s Custom 1250, which is difficult……buy a new crankset, which can be pricey…. or go back to the sub-standard original Sram BB, So after missing an event because of the BB issue, I am a little disappointed with the whole thing. Has anyone had a similar issue I wonder…I know I havent fitted it wrong?! Pros: quality servicable parts Cons: no garantee by hope that your spindle will fit! The creak would appear after about a 1000 miles after replacing with a standard SRAM BB, I fitted this HOPE 2 months ago and no sign or sound of a creek yet. As ever with hope quality is ace.
