Surprisingly weak rim! by NorbsOx, 18 February 2016, 8 out of 9 people found this review helpful I’ve been through two of these wheels in the past two years, on a Scott SUB-based touring set-up. Most of the miles have been on suburban roads. On both occasions, the wheel failed apparently spontaneously and in the same way – one of the spokes pulled a chunk of the rim out, leaving a gaping hole and a seriously warped wheel. I am in my 50’s now and just do a bit of commuting, and up and down canal/cycle paths. I don’t even bump up and down curbs. I’m not sure how many miles I had done on it but the other morning I thought I had a flat tire while out on a ride. But it seemed ok. Got home and checked it out. The wheel had a massive warp, two floppy spokes and one which had pulled right through the rim. As the hub and freewheel were still relatively new I thought I would just buy a rim and try and make a useable wheel. The problem is that I tried and tried but could find no replacement 20 hole rim. I don’t know how to get the freewheel off and hub is for 20 hole rim. So there is nothing salvageable from an 80 quid wheel. Cons: didn’t last long I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
