Good… But a tight squeeze for Mountain bikes! by NathanSodaAir, 1 December 2015, 41 out of 42 people found this review helpful For the money this case is excellent! The best way to describe what this case is made out of is to say it’s made out of similar material as a rear parcel shelf from a car. It has secure straps and your bike wheels are held in by your rear wheel bolts/QR, I have 10mm bolts which work, QR will work but if you have a rear thru axle it won’t fit or hold your wheels in place securely, so you may have to pack the case tight…. Which isn’t hard to do…. I have 2.35″ wide 26″ tyres on my NS Bikes Soda Air which has 7″ travel front and rear. With the two wheels being held side by side it doesn’t leave alot of space for your frame with crank arms still attached to sit behind. I found this a super tight squeeze to get my frame in and had to take my forks off to get it to fit in, then getting them to fit in somewhere without resting/rubbing on something was a tight squeeze, especially after finding somewhere else for your handlebars to go. This can be super scary if you have expensive forks and/or carbon bars. I’ve found the best way to use this case is to completely strip down your bike, wrap everything in bubble wrap and fit it all in like a jigsaw puzzle. That’s what I plan to do when I fly anywhere with it. My 26″ full sus frame just about fits diagonally, so I very much doubt a full suspension 29er or long DH rig will…. Hope this helps…. Pros: price sturdy protection foam pad inbetween wheels and frame solid straps wheel securing up to 10mm bolts. sturdy zip Cons: tight for mountain bikes doubt full sus 29ers will fit doubt long dh bikes will fit wheel securing won’t work for 12mm+ rear axles I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Does exactly what it’s supposed to. by jjlo99, 30 July 2015, 23 out of 24 people found this review helpful This is the first bike carrier I’ve bought, so I’m not sure exactly what you get if you spend å£300 and upwards, but for å£150, this does the job just fine. It’s easy enough to work out what goes where and there’s loads of room inside for any extras you can get within your weight limit if flying. I managed a full size pump, shoes, helmet, travel tools and a load of clothes. It’s very easy to move around and stable when transporting from car to check in desk, but it is long, tall and thin so best not to make any evasive manoeuvres. It’s not solid, but sort of semi rigid and you’d have to go at it some to damage the contents. The only minor niggle is that with the wheels in place, the spindle of the skewer sits a bit proud of the outside (Unless I’ve gotten something wrong), but a few pieces of duct tape sorts that out easily enough Overall a very good buy.
