Perfect upgrade fit for a 2011 Giant trance X4. by Adam7, 12 July 2017 Bought this as an update to the original. It’s a straight swap out that, putting it simply, allows adjustment of the ‘bounce’. I use this bike to ride the Bridgwater / Taunton Canal for work commute as well as up on the Quantocks. Its a really neat bit of kit that allows a more comfortable, and faster, commute given I can more or less ‘lock out’ most of the bob and transmit the energy in to the pedals and rear wheel. Given the ability to switch between settings on the fly it really has made a difference up on the hills as well. All in, and for the cracking knockdown price I paid, it was a fantastic purchase. New Old Stock. Cheaper than a service! by cogito, 26 May 2017 I bought this a short while back as new old stock, after figuring that it was cheaper than servicing my existing shock of the same model. I expected the rubber seals to be ropey given the shelf life and the lube to be dry, but I was pleasantly surprised on both fronts. I guess being stored in an airtight bag all this time in the warehouse helped. The damping on the RP23 has always been super consistent, predictable and plush in my experience. Especially when you consider the age and the price. I’ve used them in the flat South East of England, the Welsh hill and even a week of hitting the downhills at Morzine, it didn’t even flinch. Overall it’s a solid all rounder and the ridiculous price that CRC have them at, its cheaper than a service. It included bushings by the way even though I was expecting it not to, so I was able to fit straight out of the box. Although they’re the old style ones rather than the new hard wearing ones, so I’m expecting to need to replace them within 6 months.
