Needs more attention than any BB I know, works great before it fails. by Ehsan, 25 March 2014, 37 out of 37 people found this review helpful OK, So I got a bike which came with the BB-6000 on a FSA Gossamer Pro Triple crankset. It’s not a bad bottom bracket. That being said, it is incapable of staying in good condition. I went through two of these, lasting less than 1000 miles each. Near the end it felt like I had brakes inside my bottom bracket, grating away. The bearing action just cant stay smooth at all. I never paid more than å£20 for one of these. O-Rings get torn up really fast and contribute to the bearing issues. All of this being said, I am a massive fan of the Gossamer crankset and I urge people not to forsake it based on the bottom bracket. Even with the BB-6000, it’s very stiff. Being just under 100kg I get crazy flex on low and mid range square taper cranksets, and I would never switch back. The other benefit is that FSA cranksets are held together with Allen key bolts, so you can service it on the side of the road very easily, great for touring. Shimano cranksets don’t make it so simple. FSA have admitted that all alloy, non-carbon FSA cranksets that use the BB-6000 are 100% compatible with Hollowtech II and Chris King external BBs, Buy the incredible Shimano 5700 105 Bottom Bracket for a 1/4 of the price. It’s comparatively invincible. Pros: stiffer than an old man’s back. Cons: super short bearing life way overpriced compared to compatible products poor seals o-ring destroyer I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
