Great for the money, just added a bit of (to be expected) noise and drag, when fitted to a very quiet drivetrain by Matt217, 12 July 2016, 12 out of 12 people found this review helpful What I liked: I needed a chain guide, and this appealed to me because of the value and it looks pretty nice, with the gold-look bolts and red jockey wheel. The bash plate is definitely worth the extra weight & money over the AM model. I’ve ridden for about 75km so far with no problems. What is a little bit annoying: There is a little bit of drag, but not too noticeable, a bit of power lost, and some noise. The noise should not be a deal breaker, but it was noticeable, moving off a near silent drivetrain. Fitting it: 1. Remove chain from front chainring/crank (Note: You Don’t Need To Remove The Chain Entirely!) 2. Undo and remove cranks 3. Fit chain guide, using the correct size & amount of washers 4. test the fit by putting right crank on (by itself if possible) 5. Repeat 3 & 4 if not perfect, until perfect 6. Refit everything 7. Ride This was put on a 2016 Trek Slash (ISCG 05) and it was a bit hard to find which washers I needed exactly, but it only needed 1 of the thicker washers per bolt for it to fit perfectly. Note: the two washer sizes should fit all bikes (1x thick = 2x thin). Remember to run your bike through its gears once it’s had an initial fit just to make sure it fits perfectly, particularly at the top and bottom cogs, and if there is definite rubbing, change the amount (and type if needed) of washers around. Don’t put the left crank on until you’re certain it’s all fitted well. Equipment used (Bike has Sram X1, BB95, ISCG 05): 8mm allen key X-Tools torque wrench (4mm head) Bike Work Stand Disclaimer: Only brands mentioned are in case anyone wants to use the same tools, it’s not a shameless plug lol Pros: durability design colour way relative ease of fitting doesn’t really effect performance bash plate Cons: small amount of noise a little drag I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Works great but noisey by Jack5282, 24 January 2018, 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful I haven’t had this chainguide for long but as far as i can tell the build quality is great, the bashplate works verry well, and it was considerably cheaper then allot of the other brands of chainguide/bashplate. Although it is noisey you do get used to it but it would be better if it wasn’t there in the first place Pros: great value exceptional build quality bashplate works well Cons: the jockey wheel on the bottom is loud I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
