A great bit of safety kit by Giantkiller, 12 June 2016, 10 out of 11 people found this review helpful My experience with the Varia Radar got off to a shaky start as my first purchase was returned after not syncing to my Edge 510 unit. I decided after a short period of time and a nudge from my wife (first time she’s encouraged me to spend excess cash on my cycling activities) to upgrade to an Edge 1000 and the Radar unit again. Second time round it works perfectly and as I cycle solo during the week the benefit of this unit picking up vehicles from 140mt back is absolutely astounding. With the wind whistling in your ears it’s impossible to detect vehicles behind you. Now as you cycle along you get a little beep on the Edge 1000 and you then get a visual aid showing how fast vehicles are approaching behind. It also shows you multiple vehicles as they approach – I’ve had as many as 4 on the display together. Additionally the lights on the unit change their flashing sequence as a vehicle gets closer which alerts the motorist to see you on the road. 2 of my cycling buddies also commented on the benefit of such a unit and may purchase their own unit in due course. Certainly the combined price of the 2 units is on the high side but to quote my wife, what price can you put on your safety – wise words indeed. Pros: safer cycling clever cycling kit ease of use great mounting system Cons: check it syncs with your respective garmin unit drains your battery a little faster I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Neat addition by Mike37, 17 October 2016, 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful The radar light was easy to fit to the bike and to sync with the Garmin 1000. It works well in showing that cars are approaching. So first impressions very positive and the unit is more compact than I thought which was a nice surprise I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
