Very good if a little heavy by a126728, 25 February 2017, 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful I’ve been running a pair of these on my 170mm bike for about 5 months. I live in Barcelona, the trails I ride are mostly very sandy and rocky with a lot of loose gravel and stones (no mud ever, so I can’t comment on how they perform in it). The first thing is that they ride super smooth. In comparison to other tires that I’ve tried (Continental, Maxxis) these tune out a lot more vibration and very small bumps, which gives a really stable and smooth feeling. There are no trail centres here but I imagine they would be very comfortable on the rocky hardpack that’s typically used in them. They roll reasonably quickly. Obviously it’s a 2.35″ tire weighing over a kilo; you don’t buy it if rolling resistance is your biggest concern. I’ve never had any problem with traction while braking on the front. The aforementioned smoothness also helps to maintain control while braking. The rear is now about 70% worn and it’s sliding all over the place but it was a lot tamer when it was new. Cornering feels nice for me, as I said the rear slides now that it’s worn but it’s still quite controllable. They look pretty round on a 25mm ID rim, I think on a narrower rim the cornering might suffer. They do lack a little grip in some situations in comparison to “minion style” tyres, if you’re bumping off roots and rocks at odd angles these are a little more likely to slide off line, but for me it’s still better overall especially on the rear. Grippy & Tenacious by JethroMtbr, 17 November 2017, 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Currently running this in 26 tubed version, on my hardtail. Not 27.5 tubeless…Yet. WOW! Grip everywhere, especially in loose corners. Has held up well In rocks and grips well on hard pack (due to soft tread) Despite softish compound it has worn really well. Maybe 120 km on the HT this summer and the tire still looks fresh. How much do I like them? I am buying a 2017 Rocky Slayer and this is replacing whatever is on the front. I’m 192 cm and 105 kg good solid cornering knobs are a big deal. Comps well to Mich Rock’r 2, with a hair more bite in the loose stuff, for braking and cornering. Tubeless (with matching lower pressures) should make this tire mind blowing. Can”t wait for spring. Pros: braking cornering loose surface traction surprising hold on hardback Cons: 26′ tubed is version i’ve used I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
