Great fork by JAYDMF, 3 August 2015, 18 out of 25 people found this review helpful There’s not too much i can say that hasn’t already been said in the previous review. Its a tough choice between this and a Pike. Personally i prefer the feel of the Mattoc, it soaks up the hits like a DH fork but with max LSC climbs like a goat. Quality of the construction is nothing like the older manitous, much much better quality. This is coming from someone who only a few years ago wouldnt have touched a manitou fork with a barge pole. The axle is a little strange on first use if your coming from a maxle or pinch bolt but once you know how it works its really fast and solid. Servicing is easy and manitou provide all the bits in the box to drop the travel and the rebound damper extras to convert from 26″ to 27.5″ (crown offset is different for the 26 and 27.5 models but the lowers and internals are the same). The 8mm thin wall socket and cassette tool are essential however. (you can mod a shimano cassette tool to work if need be but i would recommend using the proper tools). My only gripe is the cable routing as it is obviously designed for left hand front brake but a small piece of protective tape on the arch and only using the first zip tie location is fine for stopping rub if your using it with a UK setup. At this price point i think your better off with this than a pike, it feels as good (if not better) and you can have all the tools plus spare seals, quad rings for the air spring, etc for less than a pair of pikes. servicing is quicker as its a semi sealed system so no bleeding and from the looks of the magnum and the new tech vids that have been posted the air spring volume spacers will retrofit the older (2015) models by just replacing the air spring top cap with the new assembly Pros: great damping great price easy to service Cons: cable routing I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
