Here are just a couple of interesting reviews that we picked out from verified customers:
Amazing Grip!!! by NathanSodaAir, 25 October 2013, 13 out of 14 people found this review helpful I bought the single ply Maxxpro version of these purely to keep the weight down, I know the EXXO version are the same weight but also double the money, so I thought I’d rather go through 2 single plys on the off chance I kill the sidewall…. These tyres are AMAZING grip wise!! I use the DHF on the front and rear as the pattern gives much less rolling resistance in the Maxxpro compund then the DHR, Even when you have them higher than the now fashionable 22-30psi they still have ample grip in the wet! Giving me a lot more confidence to hit corners much faster then I did with with Ardents…. I flipped the tyre round to use it on the back wheel so the straight edge of the tread diggs in to give me grip putting power down on muddy uphills and the ramped edge facing forward so when you brake it doesn’t try and rip the tread knobs off… You won’t be disappointed with the grip of these tyres… At the last Gravity Enduro race of the Season 2013 almost everybody were running these which is always a good sign. Pros: amazing grip in wet conditions ideal for front and rear use I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Mega Grip, massive confidence boost with a cost by Anonymous, 14 April 2013, 7 out of 8 people found this review helpful These tires are fantastic for building your confidence. I’ve tried both compounds I would say that the Supertacky is pretty slow, almost as slow as a Kenda Nevegal, so use it for front duties only unless you are really not worried about rolling speed, and think about not using it at all if your terrain is dry. As has been mentioned before they measure narrow, I’d say honestly about 2.2 is the average width for a 2.35 Minion. Weight is an issue at 780-820 grams or so for the 2.35s, and when you spend much more money on some exotic rubber like a Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.25 you are saving a sizable 200 grams a wheel and 400 grams on the bike (a dropper post and a chain guide added together!), which can be the difference between an OK and an excellent wheelset. This weight is an annoyance because it is very hard to ever have the same confidence if you don’t have that familiar Minion tread pattern on the front of your bike. I ride very arid areas, we’ve found that this tire protects from thorns better than any other without specific protection technology, being that the tread blocks are so thick they stop nearly everything. The tire also has a missing section so it is a tire you have to learn to love, especially if you come from a motorcycle road riding background and like a smooth transition when you lean, you have to learn to throw the bike into the corner with a much more MX style. I’ve given 4 stars, even though this tire is very good I still think it could be better, if there was a way to shave more weight, a bit more volume, more stiping and a rounder profile, I think some or a combination of these factors could make this tire even better. If Maxxis had the same attention to detail as say, Schwalbe they could be even better. If there was a 550 gram higher volume Minion in genuine 2.25 width, holy cow, who wouldn’t want that?
