An absolute steal. The best all rounder irrespective of price by Piggybladder, 24 December 2014, 12 out of 12 people found this review helpful On my second one now having given my first one to a friend as an act of benevolence and regretted it ever afterwards. I use it tubeless at the rear on my Zesty with a Schwalbe Smart Sam, Rocket Ron or Sammy Slick 2.10 on the front. For everyday use on the road, canal tow paths or dry-ish grass it can’t be beat for the money. Made of a lovely soft rubber compound it’s relatively light @ 590g on my scales. Okay so that’s 100g more than the top end Schwalbes but, believe me, you won’t notice the difference. It is very fast rolling and beautifully smooth and completely noiseless on tarmac. I always think of tyre noise as a good indicator of a tyre’s efficiency. Less noise means more traction, less wasted effort. I acutally prefer this tyre on the back over any of the Schwalbes (or Contis or 1.50 slicks like Maxxis Dominators, all of which I have tried). It has great grip in the dry or wet on tarmac/hard park/grass and is super efficient at moving water away from the tyre – see how much spray comes off it if you don’t have mudguards! Puncture resistance is irrelevant to me since I’m tubeless these days but I did originally ride this tyre with a tube for a couple of years around the glass strewn streets of East London and never got a puncture. Maybe that was luck but I do think that the tyre has good thickness on the tread. Indeed it wears well. The four year old one I gave away is still rolling nicely on my friends bike and also has not suffered a puncture. Size-wise although it is a 1.75 and rides like one, it looks more like a 1.90. I find that putting a 2.10 Schwalbe on the front just slackens off the angle a bit and suits me perfectly on the Zesty. I think it’s unusally simple cross hatch tread looks dead sexy too in an elegant way. For cross country this tyre would make a fair fist in dry/damp conditions. I have a spare wheelset fitted with Smart Sams 2.10 and 2.25 for the more difficult terrain. In conclusion I’d say that if you want a fit and forget all year tyre this one can’t be beat so long as you’re not doing any heavy duty, i.e. really muddy, cross country. Top marks to Michelin for knocking out such a great tyre at a remarkably good price. My tyre experiments are now at and end or at least until such time as they stop manufacturing this tyre. The only downside to this tyre is that it only comes in a 1.75. Come on Michelin, give us a 1.50 and 1.90. Pros: everything Cons: i wish they offered more sizes. Relatively light, cheap and great grip. by borg, 12 June 2015, 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful I bought a set of these in 1,75 to replace a set of Schawlbe land cruisers. Those were very heavy and run unevenly. You could feel the lightness and speed of these immediately. Less solidly planted than Land Cruisers and are more jittery but agile and are more fun for it. It has good water clearance and nice grip in all conditions. Just by holding them you can tell that they lose out to the Land Cruisers on durability and puncture resistance. But I am very happy with these and will get another set when time comes. Ideal commuter and general run around tyre for that older 26inch wheel MTB that you don‰Ûªt take o the trails any more. Pros: light good alrounder I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
