What a fantastic product! by Andrew1977, 5 January 2017, 9 out of 11 people found this review helpful I have been using a PowerBreathe Plus Respiratory Trainer now for only three weeks at the time of writing, but already I have seen major improvements in my lung capacity and aerobic fitness. As someone who is very keen on snorkelling (free-diving) and SCUBA, I am very keen to continue to build my lung capacity. I have even more incentive due to my medical condition; I suffer from a degenerative condition called ankylosing spondylitis, which causes inflammation, pain and stiffness of the spine, but also causes similar issues with the rib cage and sternum, which of course can lead to decreased chest expansion. For a while, I have been trying to do some breathing exercises to increase elasticity in my chest, but found out recently that I have gone backwards, and my chest expansion has started to decrease. Not the sort of news you want at nearly 40 years of age. Enter the PowerBreathe Plus. I have now come to regard breathing exercises as something best left to meditation or yoga; as far as increasing lung capacity goes, they are a bit like doing barbell curls for the biceps; only without the barbell! The PowerBreathe, with the resistance that is encountered, means that you are working quite hard to suck in air, and the benefits of this have obviously been considerable. At one stage, I was struggling to hold my breath underwater for much longer than 30 seconds (this is after being in the water for 40 minutes plus while snorkelling in water six metres deep, so it is a fairly strenuous activity). Now, I am confidently holding my breath for around one minute, with plans to improve this considerably. I am confident that my chest expansion will increase over time too, and want to be able to see the difference for my next meeting with the rheumatologist in a year‰Ûªs time. I have started on the lowest setting of the PowerBreathe Plus, and am still hovering there, but am looking forward to working my up the ranks. For those that are thinking of improving their physical fitness, particularly if you are have any of the issues or hobbies that I do, I would certainly highly recommend the PowerBreathe Plus. Unbelievable difference by Coolie, 19 June 2015, 8 out of 10 people found this review helpful I bought this in order to try and help my breathing, I have a lung disease and was beginning to struggle at the beginning of exercise. I really wasn’t sure how good this would be but thought I would give it a try after reading other reviews. Within about three weeks I really noticed the difference and felt better in myself. I firstly noticed that I wasn’t struggling as much when initially starting to train. I have stuck to the recommended suggestion of 30 breathes twice a day and would without doubt recommend the use of this. It has really changed my life and just wonder why I didn’t try it before. Pros: defiantly works Cons: quick expensive I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
