Good grips, weird colour! by Taviars67, 17 January 2017, 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful I had some Funn grips on my bike which were getting a bit thin, so when I fitted some new bars I decided to treat myself to some new grips. I looked at the Renthal super tackys but decided they may not last all that long so I decided to go for the kevlar ones. They are a strange colour, but they make a change from boring black. Easy to fit to my Nukeproof bars, although thy need a little gentle persuasion to fully seat (just gave them a slap). Not side or up/down specific like the traction grips which made it easy for a Neanderthal like me. Although they aren’t as sticky as my son’s Ultra Tacky’s I’ve found they do resist slipping pretty well and they don’t leave bare hands feeling sticky. Good grip in the wet. They get pretty grubby but wash up well (which also makes the stickiness come back). I think they are better value than the Ultra Tackys as well as they will more than likely last longer due to the kevlar. I’ve found them comfy to use, better than the Funn grips, and I don’t seem to need to hold on as tight as I did with the old ones. Lock on clamps work well. To answer the 2 main questions; would I buy them again and would I recommend to a friend, the answer to both would be yes. Excellent grip. by SASCHOFIELD, 3 September 2016, 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful Don’t be put off by the price. I know there are cheaper grips available to you but I promise you, short of buying grips with built in knurls, these grips are more than worth it. Renthal & others do sell grips with a knurled surface but I find if I’m not wearing gloves they chew my hand up. These however don’t even need that extra knurled grip, they are tacky to the touch and I felt genuinely confident I wasn’t going to slip at all. They are also unaffected by weather changes. (You know those other grips that become slippy? Well these don’t do that) You get plenty of use out of them, I’ve ran a set on my BMX and I have rode almost every day (for 3/4yrs?) with these grips. I’d say they’re now finally due a replacement. I plan to run these on my DH bike soon, my current big brand grips don’t even compare to these in my mind. The RENTHAL yellow is a funky colour but it’s grown on me, hopefully I’ll be buying these for many years to come. Pros: grippy tacky awesomeness it’s a renthal! Cons: the colour obviously isn’t for everyone your bros won’t understand you anymore they may try to disown you. I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
