Great for smooth gravel, nut nothing rougher! by SirGuyLitespeed, 5 June 2017, 12 out of 12 people found this review helpful These tyres had been recommended to me for a new gravel bike. I’d not used them before. I was running them tubeless, with sealant inside. The good bits: supple feel and great ride quality, with all the advantages of tubeless re’ weight savings and the ability to run low pressures. They fit /seal really well. They have an effective tread on gravel and other smooth, dry surfaces (hard pack dirt for example). They also have a nice rounded profile. Finally, they roll amazingly well on roads. The bad bits: they cut like butter as soon as the gravel turns slightly rougher. I had two really bad cuts in the space of about 2km on a roughish track in west Wales, which left me stranded and walking back to a road! If you ride smooth cinder and smooth gravel only, then these tyres may still be for you, but if your rides ever turn rougher (most tracks do), then they’re just not up to the job. Once home, I checked the TPI rating – it’s not as low (strong), as some of the main competitors. Pros: lovely tyre for smooth (only) gravel. Cons: but they cut like butter on rocks/edges.
