Perfect winter tires by Anonymous, 27 January 2013, 51 out of 53 people found this review helpful I commute to work by bike every day of the year in Norway, regardless of weather, unless the snow’s too deep, in which case I get up an hour earlier and run to work, which hurts. For this winter, I had originally decided to invest in Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro Evolution tires, for ultimate grip on the frozen-over roads. But let me tell you: there is no point getting them unless you’re riding off-road. For tarmac, the much cheaper Marathon tire is the best choice, because they roll so easily and the number of studs is more than adequate to keep me upright, even on pure sheet ice. I roll almost as well on the Marathon tires as I do on my summer riding tires, so I get to work fast, and the spikes are still sharp as sharks’ teeth, despite riding hundreds of miles on bare asphalt so far this winter. I am extremely pleased with these sure-footed tires and strongly recommend them to anyone riding on winter tarmac. I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Great Winter Commuter by Val403, 29 November 2013, 22 out of 23 people found this review helpful I use these tires to commute during the winter months in conjunction with Schwalbe Ice Spiker tires. They provide minimal rolling resistance for studded tires and can handle sheet ice and light snow very well. The studs are easy to set because of the tires excellent performance on dry pavement, making them very enjoyable once the streets are fairly clear or patchy. There is a reflective strip located on both sides of the tire, making it great for those who commute during early mornings or evenings. Definitely an eye catcher. My only recommendation for those looking to purchase studded winter tires is that you do your research and understand that these tires are not meant for deep snow or ruts. It is possible to use these tires in harsh road conditions, but you may find yourself focusing more on keeping yourself stable than the environment around you. I’d recommend purchasing wide, knobby MTB tires or more aggressive studded tires, such as Schwalbe Ice Spiker tires, when faced with poor road conditions (heavy snow, ruts, mixed slush.). Pros: low rolling resistance reasonable price ice & light snow capable reflective strip on side(s) Cons: less aggressive grip I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
