Great value for winter riding by DeeDubYoo, 2 April 2017, 9 out of 9 people found this review helpful These are first and only studded tires I’ve tried so I don’t know how well these compare to the more expensive ones, but these are definitely good value. This was my first winter where I commuted to work and I initially tried to get around buying studded tires until some pretty close slips on the ice. I noticed how cheap these were and they had great reviews on CRC so I decided to give them a try. They definitely make a huge difference on slippery surfaces, though not very effective in powdery snow (but that is to be expected). I actually have so much more control with them, sometimes I would do little spins on the ice for fun haha To increase traction, make sure you lower the tire pressure. Of course, as a trade off, they do get a little sluggish but you really shouldn’t be speeding through icy surfaces anyways. They are a little noisy, but not much more than if you were riding through a gravel road. I didn’t notice it for months since I normally have earphones on when I ride. If you get these, make sure you do a couple rides with them on dry pavement so that any loose studs get properly seated. I’ve put 800km on these this winter and I’ve only lost a single stud between the two tires. Not bad! As an added bonus, Schwalbe sells kits were you can add more studs. Pros: affordable good grip on ice Cons: a little noisy poor on powdery snow I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Beastly by , 18 December 2014, 7 out of 7 people found this review helpful I live in Canada. Winter means that there is a lot of snow and ice. I installed these a few weeks ago and since then we’ve had a little snow and a couple of deep freezes. I put them on my winter “tank”. If the weather is nice I have another bike to get around on. They grip very well. They are remarkably slow although I do lower the tire pressure a little. I was expecting them to be on the slow side. On the other hand they keep me upright and get me to my destination. They affect the steering a little but you’ll get used to this quickly. Pros: great grip good price Cons: sluggish I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
