PCE1 fixed my DA Di2 rear derailleur firmware issue by Hobgoblin63, 5 January 2016, 8 out of 8 people found this review helpful I recently bought a new DA 9000 Di2 groupset, which was working fine, but I decided to update the firmware anyway using the supplied SM-BCR2 connected to a PC, because that’s what you normally do with software, isn’t it ? Well, the 3 FW updates didn’t go as planned, and somehow I lost the rear derailleur (Etube SW could no longer detect it and it ceased functioning) Couldn’t fix it with the SM-BCR2 connection, so I purchased this PCE1 unit for direct connection to the RD. Initially, it couldn’t detect the RD, but then ran diagnostics and rolled back the RD FW to the original version. I was then able to update the RD FW to the latest version. Comes with all necessary cables. Advice: don’t change cabling during Etube SW operation, safest after ‘Complete Setup’ selected. Pros: individual di2 unit connection Cons: expensive I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

An essential tuning tool for Di2 by Wainsbrook, 3 May 2016, 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful Even with correct hanger alignment my rear gears just never seemed to mesh correctly, the only adjustment being to the end stops! This device allows incremental trim adjustment of front and rear gears to optimise chain alignment so my gears now mesh and operate perfectly. It is straightforward and logical to use, providing you understand bike mechanics! Not only that, it automatically checks firmware status and updates as necessary when connected, rather surprisingly a further rear mechanism update was identified within a week (I’d reconnected the device to carry out an additional minor adjustment). Not sure on frequency or relevance of firmware changes, but this tool certainly allows you to keep up to date with Shimano’s latest tweeks. Customising the gear change switches to re-assign shift operation is also cool. Pros: a necessary service item keeps system firmware up to date Cons: expensive for infrequent use for workshop use only probably limited to current generation of di2 I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
