Fixes binding roller-brakes by Anonymous, 16 April 2013, 7 out of 8 people found this review helpful Clear instructions with this item. Be careful not to cut the applicator too short – the grease needs to be applied at a specific depth. My roller-brakes (Shimano Nexus on a Giant N7 City) locked after braking for long periods and squeaked prior to full braking. Applied this grease into brake housing and the roller-brakes function correctly without noise or binding. Delivered on time. I would recommend this size rather than 10g – it doesn’t go off and you need a good amount if your brakes are binding. I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Knew NOTHING about this! by Steve51, 13 March 2015, 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful I have had my roller braked bike since October 2012 and recently, the brakes were making the most awful scraping, shrieking noise, when descending steep hills and with some frightening brake fade on the rear! I had no idea what was causing this and only when I did some on line investigation, lo and behold, the answer was that they needed greasing! I could not believe this at first, but went ahead and ordered a tube of Shimano Brake grease. Applied to the brakes, as per instructions, the dreadful noise has ceased and I have better braking again. I am a little bit miffed that instructions about the maintenance of roller brakes, are not widely known or included with the bikes with those brakes… Pros: worked wonders!
