Excellent until they require a rebuild. by Radicaljohn, 1 March 2015, 124 out of 129 people found this review helpful I wanted to continue to love these pedals as much as I did to begin with, but as soon as I found that you can’t get hold of the re-build components I was left bitterly disappointed. I ride my bike through pretty gruelling conditions, so I don’t expect components to last forever. I look after my bike and when I found my left pedal becoming notchy and slack I knew it was time for new bearings, no big deal right? So I take it apart and the problem becomes instantly obvious. The seal has all but fallen apart. Never mind I think, I’ll get a new one, easy peasy. I was a little sad to find a fairly archaic angular contact bearing inside, with separate races, individual bearings and all sorts of lazy and old fashioned engineering. I thought we got rid of that tat years ago? Anyway… I find burnished bearings, pitted races and lots of scoring. Nothing a rebuild kit wouldn’t solve. Good. luck. finding. one. I found a few places online that sold the individual bearings, which are completely useless without new races and a spindle seal. Such a shame as these pedals are a dream to ride with when working. I got about 18 months of excellent playtime out of these boys, but I’m pained to buy a new pair knowing I’ll have to do the same thing once they wear out. Despite the now extremely low price of these, I’ll be going to another manufacturer as I just can’t stand not having the option to re-build. Shimano, you sneaky cheeky little monkeys, make the full rebuild kit available!! Pros: excellent grip good mud shedding great price reasonable weight Cons: no full re-build kit available poor seal old fashioned loose bearings non-standard grip pins I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Solid pedals! by JNRIDES, 3 December 2013, 31 out of 36 people found this review helpful Very impressed with the Saint flat pedals, build quality is great and they feel rock solid under foot. They come with extra pins which can be used as replacements and to add another additional 4 pins to the outer edge of each pedal, providing even more grip. The slightly concave shape provides good stability and the top of the pedals come with a grippy paint to add additional grip in the wet (The white paint is the grippy area) Overall, it’s hard to pick out any faults considering the price. If you want a pedal that will last long, look good and not break the bank, you should give he Saint pedals a try. They come with a bag of extra pins, a torx key for the pins and a bag full of pin spacers. Feel free to check out my unboxing & close up video!
