Only fits if lots of space behind seat tube by PetePedals, 15 December 2016, 1 out of 6 people found this review helpful Top swing front changers are brilliant. But they need plenty of space between bottom of seat tube and the tyre or mudguard. No use on short wheelbase bikes or longer wheelbase with mudguards. Shimano made a version of Top Swing with (Their quote) “improvement of tire clearance”; that was the SLX FD-M660-10 listed on Shimano EU website. Unfortunately that is unobtainable. Madison, the UK importers, told me that model was superseded by this one. BUT this one makes no claim to have “improvement in tire clearance”. That’s true – it won’t fit! So why on earth did Shimano make a special version of Top Swing front changer to fit short wheelbase bikes – then withdraw it? Please someone tell me – I just can’t believe it! Pros: top swing gives improved up-changes Cons: only fits if lots of space behind seat tube I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
Hit the mark by Gougay, 18 June 2018 Ordered from NZ and here in less than a week! I needed to replace my front mech on a Merida Crossway 900 – hybrid mountain bike setup that originally came with a Shimano Deore – 48 front mech. Chainring set is a 26-36-48 so was a bit worried about it accommodating the largest cog. No problem – changes smoothly and fits well. Great top pull bottom swing option. Nice kit and easy install.
