11-30 works fine with 2015 sora short cage rear derailleur by dbradvic, 22 July 2015, 28 out of 28 people found this review helpful Hi, I had 12-25 cassette on my bike, and since I ride a lot of very steep hills, although I have compact chain set, I wanted to make myself more comfortable, so I ordered 11-30 cassette. From shimano specs I could see that it should work, but it’s on the limit. However, for all of you who needed this, answer is yes, 2015 sora rear derailleur supports 11-30 cassette with 34-50 on the front. Pros: cheap good value for the money Cons: nothing I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful

Cheap and reliable by lenesu, 11 April 2015, 18 out of 18 people found this review helpful Great cassette for it’s entry level bikes. Have two pairs: 12-25 for the flats, and 11-30 for hills. 12-25 has great shifting. Works great with 9 speeds and you don’t feel any need for 11. It’s an overkill. 11-30 is not so great at 9 speed, though still shifts clean. 11 speed would be much greater because it would mean the same steps between gears as in 12-25. If anyone wonders how does 11-30 fit on a road bike – you have to have the long cage derailleur. I have sora 3400, which is rated at 28T max. It can shift to 30 and maybe 32 but doesn’t run as smooth. Which is not a problem at all since I shift to 30 only in very steep climbs. One important not if you’re not sure how many teeth to put – calculate the amount you need on the steepest climb you regularly do. I ride 13kmh on 8-10% so I need 30T exactly.
