extremely delicate by maxxxx, 9 August 2014, 3 out of 5 people found this review helpful i bought a couple of grip shift X0 in may 2012 (3x/10x). i always loved sram grip shif, and i was happy when they presented the new version for 10x. on previous bike i had a sram ATTACK that worked with xtr rear derailleur (9x). it was great. this version is only for sram rear derailleurs. i used a X.0 rear derailleur (10x). but a front 3x shimano xt dereailleur. 1) on the grip shift command we don’t have a visual index anymore, so often u don’t see where you are. 1-2-3-….9-10 u have to look at real derailleur to see it. on previous model it was possible to see it directly on grip shift command. it was useful. 2) the rubber cover of grip shift is extremely delicate, after some weeks it got destroyed and they replaced it with extremely difficulty. they took months (at sram italy) and they sent a demonstration kit part, as they didn’t want to replace it with a completely new part (they said they didn’t have it). then the grips melt in your hands in summer, your hands get black of this gummy residual. i hope it’s not toxic. 3) yesterday after 2 years and 3 months the front 3x grip shift got broken (at about 13.000 km). the inner plastic ring that makes work collapsed. so it’s to replace, is not working’ anymore. honestly i love unconditionally sram grip shift but this is extremely poor. i need to buy another one to replace the broken one. it lasted just a bit more than 2 years, so i can’t use warranty 🙁 but i guess if i had to buy it for a new bike i wouldn’t. i dunno if newest X0 or XX or X01 or XX1 resolved all this weakness. if they r more tough, as they need to be. extremely poor customer care then. italian sram assistance is ridiculous. through direct local re-seller they r lazy. and they never answered my email. Pros: extremely speed more comfortable than shimano shifters Cons: extremely delicate I found this review helpful I did not find this review helpful
