no good for off road by JOCSOC, 25 March 2014, 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful broken within 3 months. first thing to happen was that the guard seized its self to the metal support & as it has the look of a cigar cutter for fingers, is impossible to get off – then the strapping broke – got it restitched and then metal bracket snapped on next outing. Would be ok for commuting but not strong enough for off road. Vowed to give it a bad review after it fell off 1 klick into muddy trail, but have just read the reviews above for the first time, so is really my fault. Defender sounds tough, but isn’t really. Will fail really quickly by Anonymous, 14 March 2012, 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful The whole design of this mudguard is poor and the fixings for this are really flaky. The bug plastic bit fell off whilst I was out riding and on a replacement, the strap for the seatpost fixing broke. Even without these problems, the yellow twisty seatpost strap winder will come undone in use and the mudguard will fall down and hang next to your back wheel. Avoid.
